Aiming for Prevention is our central campaign addressing armed violence from a public health perspective. We encourage affiliate members to download and print the materials for regional and local use.

IPPNW has described and documented the medical and humanitarian consequences of nuclear weapons explosions, and has shown that prevention of nuclear war is a medical and public health imperative.
IPPNW has a long record of accomplishment in promoting international dialogue and cooperation. IPPNW physicians, health workers and medical students come together as healers – regardless of nationality, ideology or religious orientation – in pursuit of a more peaceful, healthier world without the threat of nuclear destruction. This work is taking place in some of the most volatile regions of the world.
IPPNW publishes a biannual newsletter, Vital Signs
, has a designated journal, Medicine, Conflict and Survival, and offers a variety of books and other publications on our core issues. You can also sign up for our monthly e-newsletter.
Medicine, Conflict and Survival is the designated journal of IPPNW, published by Taylor & Francis in the UK in collaboration with our British affiliate, Medact. This quarterly journal covers a wide range of topics related to armed violence, health, and human rights.
Medicine and Global Survival was published from 1991-2002, originally as The PSR Quarterly and later as an IPPNW journal. A complete archive of original M&GS articles is available.
Online Study Materials
IPPNW affiliates and partners have created valuable online courses and databases of information about nuclear weapons, armed conflict, and health for use by educators, activists, and the public. These include Learn About Nuclear Weapons
, produced by our Swedish affiliate, SLMK, and available in Swedish and English; Atomwaffen A-Z
, a nuclear weapons encyclopedia produced by IPPNW-Germany (in German only); and Medical Peace Work
, a curriculum developed by a European network of medical peace organizations and teaching institutions, including IPPNW-Norway.
