On 30 November 2023, IPPNW joined in conversation with the Permanent Mission of Costa Rica and a coalition of the world’s largest medical and public health organizations — the International Committee of the Red Cross, International Council of Nurses, International Federation of Medical Students’ Associations, World Federation of Public Health Associations, and the World Medical Association — on the margins of the second Meeting of States Parties to the TPNW.
Echoing the August 2023 joint editorial from 153 Medical and Health Journals on the unique role health professionals must play in warning world leaders and the public of the risks of nuclear war, representatives from leading health organizations gathered with one voice to advance the eradication of nuclear weapons through evidence-based policy-making.
